VINCENT FRAMES FREESTYLER MK2 - 2012 ISSUE
Since the VF crew started riding together again we’ve talked about how great it would be to actually ride a Vincent again….so we got to work measuring up the old Vincent frames we could get our hands on, studied photos from BITD and drew them into CAD designs from which we then worked from.
We got cracking in the workshop working from the CAD drawings - we cut, polished, bent, mitred and tig welded as if our life depended on it! She’s been lovingly created out of the original tubing (T45 and 4130 chromoly) that was still in the VF workshop. The forks are original MK2 Freestyler forks that were left in the workshop and rear end drop outs are also original…even the braizing rods are original! The only new parts were the bottom bracket & the head tube.
So we took her fresh out of the workshop to RADBMX’s MK11 in August to show everyone and to start buying all the components. This week I finally got the last few bits together….and I could not be prouder of what we’ve achieved building her up.
BIG THANKS go to the following guys for all their hard work, patience and perseverance, without which this just would not have happened:
Fleck Fletcher - VF welder and metal worker extraordinaire.
Adam Dudley - VF rider, CAD designer, tube bender and workshop buddy.
Kris Hall - for getting that Orange colour matched from Rock’s old Airzone, it’s spot on.
Paul Hudson - bike builder and component finder.
Paul Dutton - for lending us his VF Freestyler MK1 to measure up.
Now counting down the days til we take her to ROM!
Richard’s FREESTYLER MK1 has just been built up and it’s looking goooood!
Great thread going on RADBMX re: the Vincent Frames Freestyler build progress. Can’t wait to see it!
My dad popped up the workshop to see what we were up to on Saturday so I put him to good use and got him to braize some Rock Bar 2’s!
One of only two known Holeshot RF1 frame’s (dad built them for Andy Ruffell’s brother Neil to ride) that have been found has had a nice resto job…looking good!
A first generation VINCENT FRAMES FREESTYLER has been unearthed in a garage! It was bought by Richard in 84/85 after saving up all his paper round money and has been sat in his mum’s garage ever since!
He’s just had it powder coated and it looks HOT!! The powder coater said it was the “best brazing he’s seen on a bike in 20 years!!”
It’s only the second 1st gen frame & fork set I know about…still no 2nd gen freestyler have been found…..yet.
One lazy Sunday back in May the Vincent Frames crew went for a roll around at Rom Skatepark. It was a great morning topped of with lunch at McDonald’s on the way home for old times sake.
Awesomely filmed and edited by Adam Dudley.
Phil Sawzall went down to Bournemouth to show off some of his amazing UK manufactured o/s BMX treasures a few weeks back and bumped into Vincent Frames racer SARAH JANE NICOLS!
Although the bike she raced on was in fact a Redline it was stickered up as a Vincent and she brought it with her.
Thanks to Phil for taking the time to get some images and Sarah, if you’re reading this, please get in touch!
Here’s a little video of Vincent Frames rider Adam Dudley in the re-run of the Old School B final at MK11.
Poor Adam was totally robbed of his second place spot from five minutes earlier!!
Well bloody done for getting into the final this year!
MK11 WAS BLOODY BRILLIANT!
Vincent Frames were one of this years sponsors of Rad BMX’s annual event MK11.
We had a blast, such a good weekend full of great people, awesome show ‘n’ shine, some great races, few accidents and a cracking bunny hop competition (34 inches!)

Back in the 80’s my dad made BMX frames & towable quarter pipes whilst his team demoed & competed across the UK & Europe…..25 years later I’m bringing Vincent Frames back!
